S-Class FAQ
Q: I loaded the tickets in the printer and when I press “FEED” multiple tickets advance and I get fault.
A: Reposition the media sensor to be in the middle of a “quiet zone” (no preprinted artwork – refer to your Operator’s manual for this area) on the bottom of ticket. Remove your tickets and turn off printer. Lock the printhead mechanism down and turn the printer back on. After the printer powers up all 3 LED’s will turn on. Load your ticket stock and the printer will perform the Auto-Load function. If the problem still persists you can refer to the trouble shooting section in the Operator’s manual or call Technical Support at 407-523-5540.
Q: When I print my tickets the print position is too high/too low. What can I do to fix this?
A: With the printers Power and On-Line lights on, press the Pause/F1 button one time. This will take the printer Off-Line. Press the Test/F3 button several times to see how the Internal Test Tickets line up. If these test labels do not line up correctly on your ticket they you need to perform the Start of Print/Cut-Tear Adjustment. Refer to the Operator’s Manual for making these adjustments. If you need further assistance then please contact our Technical Support Department.
Q: I am using Bartender software to print to my S-Class printer. When I try to print some tickets, only numbers and characters are on the ticket – basically garbage. What am I doing wrong?
A: Your printer may be set to DTPL. Refer to the Operator’s manual for changing this to DPL. This is listed under the Parser Mode setting. (DPL is Datamax Programming Language and DTPL is Datamax Ticketing Programming Language. DTPL is for BOCA™ emulation)
Q: I recently bought a brand new S-Class printer and noticed that it has a new USB port on the back. I looked at my older S-Class printer and it only has Parallel and Serial. Why is that?
A: In 2007 the S-Class printer was upgraded to conform with ROHS standards. With that upgrade there is now a USB port, 9-pin Serial port, Parallel port and more Flash memory on this new main board.
Q: Can I use gap labels with my S-Class printer?
A: No, you can only use reflective labels (with black mark) and Continuous ticket stock.
Q: I have ticket stock with the black mark on the top. Is it possible to use S-Class printer for this type of ticket?
A: Yes, you have to order the S-Class printer with the Top TOF Sensor Option.
Q: When my printer prints and cuts tickets they fall all over the place. Is there a way to have the tickets come out neatly, instead of scattered?
A: Yes, you can purchase a cutter tray and add it to the printer (ST models only). The part numbers are: DPO15-3081-01 Cutter Tray, 2” and DPO11-5228-01 Cutter Tray, 3.5”.
Q: I lost the keys to the lock on my S-Class printer and now I can’t open the cover. Can I get replacement keys?
A: Unfortunately not. Contact Technical Support at 407-523-5540 to get RMA/REP. The printer must come back to Datamax unless you have a Master Key available.
Q: I replaced a Boca printer with an S-Class and nothing prints. I made sure the S-Class was set to DTPL and I am using the same BOCA parallel cable. What else can I try?
A: Boca has their own proprietary parallel cable and it will not work with a Datamax printer. You must purchase an IEEE 1284 parallel cable if you want to use the LPT port. You can purchase this cable anywhere.
