Metalized polyester labels with a resin ribbon are recommended for equipment serial number plates. For PC board topside labeling, Datamax recommends a high-end polyester label with a resin ribbon. However, for bottom or wave solder side of PC boards, it is recommended that you use a polyimide (Kapton) label with a unique resin ribbon. Finally, if you need to print labels that will be scanned at long range (35'), Datamax recommends that you use retro-reflective labels with a resin ribbon.
